A true angel sent from heaven, who dedicated her life to love and healing. The love and appreciation I have for the woman who saved my child's life can not be compared. I've only learned of her passing just today at NCH from our current cardiologist. Her passion for her work always evident. Her compassion for her cardiac families true and real. An amazing human being who blessed so many lives with her gift. We thank you from the bottom of hearts. May you always be at peace.

My condolences to family and friends. I have never seen anybody anywhere work as hard as Dr Craenen! Her knowledge of Pediatrics and of most anything else always astonished me. By the way she could explain it all in a not so complicated or puzzling way, it all seemed so obvious. Rest in Peace, Coach Craenen, you will be long remembered. Deb Brienz, MD

Please accept our deepest condolences on your loss. Jo was an amazing person! We met Jo thru our work (she chose our company as her cleaning service several years ago). Jo was one of those people who didn't know a stranger. Our staff loved going to "visit" with her every week! When she recently found out that my twin grandbabies were born premature & that my Grandson had to stay in the NICU for several weeks, she called to let me know she would be happy to answer any questions we may have about his treatment. That meant the world to us. That's just who she was. I wanted you to know she would be missed very much, not as our customer, but as the amazing person she was. There aren't enough like her in this world!!

Jo was also instrumental in beginning the Palliative Care program at Nationwide Children's Hospital. She recognised the need and was one of the group of professionals who helped bring about its founding.
She helped me nurture the seedling program. She shared in the clinical care and the call and was a mentor. She covered the service when I had surgery.
In noting all of the ways Jo gave and inspired her colleagues and patients, please remember palliative care and how Jo recognised the humanistic, whole-person care as well as the technological advances possible with intensive care medicine. I miss you, Jo. God Bless.

I worked with Jo Craenen for several years & learned many things from her. Her compassion & devotion to her patients were an inspiration. The regular arrival of home baked goodies for the staff was always met with smiles & joy at her delicious creations. Many an overnight shift was made easier working with her. Rest well.

Jo touched so many lives, and though she was a petite woman her heart was incredibly huge. Her patients adored her.
