Dr. Carl Speicher Obituary

Dr. Carl E. Speicher, 86, Professor Emeritus at The Ohio State University, died on November 13, 2019. Born in Carbondale, Pennsylvania to the late William J. Speicher and Elizabeth (Connolly) Speicher, his goal since childhood was to become a physician. This goal was realized when he graduated from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine in 1958. He then spent twenty-one years in the United States Air Force where he earned the rank of colonel, followed by twenty-two years as head of Clinical Pathology at The Ohio State University. In addition to his devotion to medicine, Dr. Speicher loved his Catholic faith and his family. He is survived by his wife of sixty-one years, Mary Louise; three sons and two daughters-in-law: Carl (Dedtra), Gregory (Tricia), and Erik; and six grandchildren: Gregory Patrick (Nichole), Matthew, Reid, Andrew, Grace, and Julia Marie. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, December 21 at 11a.m. at St. Patrick Church, 280 N. Grant Ave., where friends may call one hour prior to Mass. Burial will be at Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery in Carbondale, PA at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
