Catharine L. (Murtha) Fothergill

Catharine "Kay" L. Fothergill, age 88, passed away Friday July 6, 2018 peacefully at home surrounded by her family. Kay was a graduate of Rosary High School class of 1947. She was an avid Ohio State fan. Kay spent many enjoyable years with Bob and their family at their Buckeye lake cottage. She found lots of new friends when she started attending her weekly Thursday "lunch bunch" and thoroughly enjoyed all the visits she had with them over her final weeks. She also looked forward to daily Mass at St. Catharine's with her church friends. She is survived by her children Ann (Steve) Smith, Bill (Peggy) Fothergill; grandchildren Brad (Angela) Smith, Carrie (Brian) Skinner, Amy (Matt) Hoffman and Emily Fothergill ; great grandchildren Charlotte and Will Hoffman, Lauren and Carly Skinner; brother-in-law Edwin A. (Mary Jane) Fothergill; sister-in-law Lorraine Fothergill; numerous nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Bob of 63 years, her parents Michael and Marguerite Murtha and sisters Marjorie Waggener and Rosemary Bland. Friends and family may call Tuesday July 10 from 2-4 and 6-8 at EGAN-RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 403 E. Broad St. Funeral Mass will be Wednesday July 11 at 10 am. at St. Catharine Church, 500 S. Gould Rd. Burial St. Joseph Cemetery. Anyone who knew Kay, knew how proud she was to be Irish and how she loved St. Patrick's Day. Feel free to wear green to celebrate the Irish in all of us. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to those care givers who help take care of Kay in her final days. In lieu of flowers, friends who wish may contribute in Kay's memory to Mt. Carmel Hospice 1144 Dublin Rd., Columbus, Ohio 43215 or a charity of their choice .
