Barbara Jean (Buker) Reed

Barbara Jean (Buker) Reed, age 72, passed away unexpectedly at her residence Tuesday, September 4, 2018. Barbara graduated from Bexley High School in 1963 where she played clarinet in the concert band and was also a baton majorette with the marching band. While raising two boys, Barbara also served as a Sunday school teacher at Brookwood Presbyterian Church and worked as a pre-school teacher at Brookwood Presbyterian Pre-School. She obtained her Bachelor of Arts and Master of Counseling Degrees from The Ohio State University. She also later worked as an academic advisor at O.S.U., and as a clinical counselor at Maryhaven, Madison County Hospital, Comp Drug, St. Vincent Family Center, North Central Mental Health, Capital University and most recently at Apex Counseling Center. She lived in Bexley her entire life. She is preceded in death by her parents, Tom and Eloise Buker and her sister Patricia Zettler. She is survived by her sons Frank Reed, Jr. (Frances), Steven Reed (Brenda), her grandchildren Charles, Ian, Emily, Robert and Ryan, her sister Eloise Buker, Ph.D. (Robert Cahill, Ph.D.), her brother-in-law Jeff Zettler, her nephew Jeffrey Zettler, her niece Patti Zettler (Matt Jordan), her great nephew Edison, her great niece Lily and her former husband Frank Reed, Sr. Friends may call at Egan-Ryan Funeral Home, 403 E. Broad St., Friday 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. and Saturday 9:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. The Funeral Service will follow at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Claude Davis of New Life Church officiating. There will be a private burial at Forest Lawn Cemetery. Friends who wish may contribute in Barbara’s memory to the charity of their choice.
