Yvette Massey, age 94, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family late Saturday, September 15, after a brief illness. She was born May 20, 1918 in Quebec City and is preceded in death by parents, Edouard and Antoinette Bourassa, also of Quebec City, and 5 siblings. Survived by devoted husband of 63 years, John Massey; daughters, Alyn (Earl) Harrison, Elyse Thomas and Colette Massey; grandchildren, Eric Eickholt, Joe Eickholt, Caroline Thomas and Collin Chakeres; and 5 siblings. She was a longtime member of St. Andrew Church and more recently St. Margaret of Cortona Church. She volunteered for a number of organizations over the years and traveled all over the world with her husband. Her trip to the Holy Land in 2010 was one of the highlights of her life. She was an extraordinary mother and dearly loved by her grandchildren. She participated actively in the lives of her grandchildren, attending many school functions, band concerts and sports activities. When Yvette smiled, she lit up the whole room. She will be sadly missed. Friends may call Thursday, September 20 from 6-8 p.m. at the EGAN-RYAN NORTHWEST CHAPEL 4661 Kenny Rd. I try to write my feeling in English but it's difficult to talk about emotion. Aunt Yvette is still for me like a mainstay for Bourassa's family. I will miss her in spite of the fact that i haven't sent a lot letters since many years.
For all of you, uncle John, Alyn, Elyse, Colette and your family, all of my deep sympathies.
Julie
