Michelle Ann Pappa (Urwin) 55 years old of Upper Arlington, Ohio, passed away at Kobacker House on Sunday, July 22, 2012 with her family at her side. Michelle, wife of Dr. Karl S. Pappa was born November 1, 1956, to John and Pauline Urwin in Cleveland, Ohio. Her parents and children, Mary and Joseph (1987), preceded Michelle in death. She is survived by her husband of 32 years, children Christopher, Rachael and Nicholas, and loving dog Sophie; brothers Dr. Gregory (Dr. Cathy) Urwin of Doylestown, PA, Timothy (Peggy) Urwin of Bay Village, Ohio, Patrick (Gina) Urwin of Dublin, Ohio; sisters Charlene (Shaun) Rafferty of Brecksville, Ohio, and Suzanne (Lou) Parasiliti of Walton Hills ,Ohio; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Steven K. and Shirley A. Pappa; brother-in-laws, Keith (Corlis) of Cary, North Carolina, Darrell (Teresa) Pappa of Upper Arlington, Ohio, David (Stephanie) of Fishers, Indiana. Godchildren include Pamela, Shane, Ciara, and Matthew. She also deeply loved all her other nieces and nephews. Her friend, Barb Repasky was like a second mother to her after her own mother died. She greatly appreciated her special friends Laura Nedorost, Patty Long, Mimi and Gary Bontempo, Don and Debbie Lombardo, and Drs. Jim and Emily O’Neal especially for their help with her care over the past few months. Michelle grew up in Independence, Ohio, and graduated from Marymount (Trinity High School) where she played volleyball and basketball. She graduated from Ursuline College in 1978 with honors and a B.S. in Nursing. She worked at Case Western University Hospital in orthopedics and moved with her husband to Columbus, Ohio, in 1985 where she was a critical care nurse at Riverside Methodist Hospital until her son Christopher was born. She has been on maternity leave for 23 years enjoying her most important calling in life as a devoted mother and wife who provided strong supportive guidance to her children and encouraged them to approach life positively. Michelle centered her life around her husband and kids. She served as a school room mother, volunteer, Girl Scout leader and craft expert. She was always her children’s biggest fan at their sporting activities. She also was an excellent seamstress, creative crafter and cook. Michelle had an amazing ability to make everyone whom she met in life feel special and brought out the best in people. She was kind, caring, devout, and cared deeply about her faith, children and family. She will be keenly missed by the many hearts she touched. Calling hours for loving friends and family will be held at Egan Ryan Northwest Chapel 4661 Kenny Road, Columbus on Friday, July 27th from 4 to 8pm. A Funeral Mass will be held 10 a.m. at St. Andrew Catholic Church, Columbus, Ohio on Saturday, July 28th. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Michelle’s honor to the Monastery of Poor Clares, 3501 Rocky River Dr. Cleveland, Ohio 44111-2999 or Kobacker House 800 McConnell Dr. Columbus, Ohio 43214.
