I'm terribly sorry to read of Sid's passing. I used to correspond and talk with him regularly as a friend of Scotty Moore's. On behalf of Scotty, Gail, myself and I'm sure the many fans, we'd like to express our deepest sympathies.

Lapworth Family....so very sad to have heard that Sid has passed away. I always looked forward to subbing in Bob Grossman's great trombone-band, Bones Plus; so, I would have a chance to hear some of Sid's great stories about days-long-gone, in the music business.

I remember the last time I saw Sid, one of his daughters brought him up to Charlevoix MI for a concert we played with Bones Plus. That was several years ago.

What an inspiration to all, aging trombone players, to be able to play as long as Sid did and to play as well as Sid did!

May Sid rest-in-peace. All trombonists who knew Sid and worked with him will miss him, greatly.

Susie and I were privileged to know the Lapworth family while you kids were "growing up" in Newark.  Your father will long be remembered for his wit, his kindness and his musicianship, especially his dedication to the cause of keeping traditional church music alive as director of the St. Gregory Men's Choir.  He was best known as an instrumentalist, but was equally talented as a vocal musician.  Though we were unable to make it to Columbus for the calling hours or service, he will be lovingly remembered in our prayers for the rest of our days.  God bless him and all of you.  - Paul in Zanesville
