Dominican Sister of Peace, Sister Helen (Sr. Mary Lambert) Walter died at Mohun Health Care Center, Columbus, OH on August 27. She was born in 1918 in Pittsburgh, PA and in 1936 entered the congregation of St. Mary of the Springs, now the Dominican Sisters of Peace. She earned her degrees from the College of St. Mary of the Springs, now Ohio Dominican University, and Duquesne University. She taught in MI, PA and Marietta and Steubenville, OH. In the Columbus diocese, she taught at St. Mary, Lancaster; was principal at Holy Trinity in Somerset; and served in Columbus at Holy Spirit, St. Philip and St. James the Less. When she retired' from teaching, she worked as an Assistant Dietitian and was a Congregational Volunteer at the Columbus Motherhouse. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Katherine Holler Walter, her brothers, Gerard and Paul, her sisters, Beatrice Gaylord, Dorothy Pearlman and Sr. Germaine (Mary Ronald) OSF. She is survived by cousins. Her body will be received at the Columbus Motherhouse on Thursday, September 1 at 3:00 p.m. A Vigil of Remembrance Service will be held at 4:45 p.m. with the wake continuing until 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Liturgy will be held at the Columbus Motherhouse at 9:00 on Friday, September 2 followed by burial at St. Joseph Cemetery.
