Dominican Sister of Peace, Sister Catherine Platt died at Mount Carmel East Hospital, Columbus, OH on Wednesday, November 18, 2015. She was born in 1951 in Philadelphia and in 1979 entered the Dominican Sisters of St. Catherine de’ Ricci, now the Dominican Sisters of Peace. She made her first profession in 1982. She earned her degree in Religious Studies from Villanova. She served the congregation in varied ministries including serving as a staff member at the Health Care Facility, St. Catherine Hall and being on the Retreat Staff at Elkins Park. She was preceded in death by her parents, Addison and Catharine Crossin Platt. She is survived by her sister, Sister Susan Platt, I. H. M. and a cousin Nancy Donahue. Her body will be received at the Columbus Motherhouse on Friday, November 20 at 3:00 p.m. A Vigil of Remembrance Service will be held at 4:45 p.m. with the wake continuing until 7:00 p.m. The funeral liturgy will be held at the Columbus Motherhouse at 9:00 a.m. on November 21st. Her burial will be at a later date at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery in Philadelphia.
