Richard "Dick" P. Devine, Jr., age 79, died peacefully, surrounded by family on the evening of Thanksgiving Day. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Charlene, 6 children, Kevin (Alicia) Devine, Jerrye (Rich) Chesnes, Keith (Michelle) Devine, Frank (Malinda) Devine, Todd (late Teresa) Devine, and Mary (Kevin) Pedigo, 11 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, his sister Carol Higgins, and countless nieces and nephews. His parents, two sisters, and two brothers preceded him in death. Dick graduated from Aquinas High School and attended banking courses at the University of Wisconsin Madison. His entire working life was spent at Ohio National Bank and its various incarnations, culminating in being named a bank officer and earning the title of Vice President. Proud of his Catholic faith, he served in various capacities at St. Anthony's Parish and sat on the board of St. Raphael's Home. He volunteered for Charity Newsies for many, many years. He served on the Ohio Sinking Fund Commission. Dick could be seen nearly every year of his long life marching with the Shamrock Club in the St. Patrick's Day Parade. Dick loved a good joke, a bad joke, a stiff drink, and anything food-related. His quick wit and sense of humor remained with him until the end. Friends may call 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the EGAN-RYAN FUNERAL HOME 403 E. Broad St. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Anthony Church 1300 Urban Dr. Columbus, OH 43229. Burial St. Joseph Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider making a donation in Dick's name to Charity Newsies or St. Anthony's Parish.
