Michael Roy Szolosi, Sr. (71), of Columbus, Ohio passed away Thursday, May 26, 2016.  Born in Toledo, Lucas County, Ohio on November 30, 1944, he was preceded in death by his parents, Michael Stephen (“Mitch”) Szolosi (1955) and Irene Virginia (Whitaker) Szolosi (2001).   Michael is survived by his wife, Margery Anne (Gavin) Szolosi, of nearly forty-nine years, their children Sharon Anne Regas (John) and their sons (Nicholas and Alexander) of Canton, Ohio, Michael Roy Szolosi, Jr. (Karen) and their sons (David and Daniel) of Columbus, Ohio, Mark Christopher Szolosi (Alisa) and their children (Aiden, Paige, and Reece) of Columbus, Ohio, Stephen Matthew Szolosi of Washington D.C., Susan Angela Terrell (Brian) and their children (Ellen, Jacob, Julia, and Grant) of Cincinnati, Ohio, Andrew Martin Szolosi (Beth) and their children (Sophia, Joshua, and Adelyn) of Athens, Ohio, Brian Joseph Szolosi of Columbus, Ohio, and Elizabeth Marie Deighton (Matthew) and their son (Owen), his brother, Gary James Szolosi (Sherry) of Fort Myers, Florida and their daughters (Cheryl Ann Mitchell of Vienna, Virginia) and Kimberly Lynn Towne of Columbus, Ohio), brother-in-law Thomas Michael Gavin (Susan) of New Haven, Connecticut and his daughters (Wendy Marie Porter and Emily Sandra Gavin), and sister-in-law Kathleen Marie Richardson (Rudy) of Ann Arbor, Michigan and their children (Olivia Maureen Richardson and Gavin James Richardson).   Michael graduated from the University of Toledo (B.A.) in 1966 and Ohio State University Law School in December of 1968 (Class of 1969) and was admitted to the Ohio Bar in May, 1969.  He worked for Ohio Attorney General William J. Brown in a variety of capacities including one year assisting in the prosecution of criminal indictments issued by a state wide Grand Jury resulting from the tragic events in May, 1970 at Kent State University.  He also served as First Assistant Ohio Attorney General from 1976 to 1979.  He served as Special Counsel in orally arguing Ohio’s boundary dispute with Kentucky before the United States Supreme Court.  He was lead counsel in a class action against one of Ohio’s largest pension systems in which the plaintiff’s class recovered all of their damage claims.  More recently, he has served for eleven years as local counsel to the Holland & Knight law firm in representing clients seeking damages from those responsible for salvaging the S.S. Central America.  His entire career was focused on civil litigation. He has been an active member of St. Agatha Church since 1971 including service on Parish Council, as a youth basketball coach, and as a lector.  For many years, he was the Scout Master for Boy Scout Troop 261.  Family will receive friends Wednesday 4-8:00 p.m. EGAN-RYAN FUNERAL HOME NORTHWEST CHAPEL, 4661 Kenny Road, Columbus, Ohio.  Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Agatha Church, 1860 Northam Road, Columbus, Ohio on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. Father Dan Ochs Celebrant.  Internment  Resurrection Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, 2225 Citygate Dr, Columbus, OH 43219 or the St. Vincent De Paul Society at St. Agatha Church.
