Melvin G. Mettler, Sr., age 82, passed away Wednesday, November 23, 2016 at home.  He is preceded in death by parents, John and Hazel (Bickel) Mettler; wife, Dorothy J. (Myers) Mettler; son, Melvin G. Mettler, Jr.; sister, Linda Mettler, brothers, Thomas, Larry and Richard Mettler, son-in-law, Nicolas J. Alvarez. He is survived by his daughter, Melanea Mettler Alvarez; granddaughter, Amanda Alvarez (Ryan Snider); sister, Juanita (Robert) Brown; many nieces, nephews and friends.  Melvin was Veteran of the U.S. Army and a lifetime member of AMVETS Post 89.  He was a hard working mason and enjoyed working with his hands. He enjoyed car collecting, photography; he was very outgoing and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. His sense of humor and quick wit will be missed by all who knew him.  Friends may call Wednesday from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Egan-Ryan Funeral Home, 403 East Broad St. where a Funeral Service will begin at 7:00 p.m.  Burial to be held at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 5455 N.
