Marcia Ambrose Kehrer died peacefully on Friday, June 2, age 93, surrounded by family. She is preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Frederick Kehrer, son Rick Kehrer, brother Fritz Ambrose, sister Carlotta Stinson, and brother and sister-in-law John and Jane Horrocks.

Marcia was born in Logan, Ohio to Frederick and Charlotte Ambrose. The family moved to Columbus, Ohio and Marcia graduated from Rosary High School and then attended the Ohio State University, majoring in physical education. She was an athlete throughout her life, remaining an avid golfer into her eighties and even taking up skiing in her fifties. She could often be found pulling weeds in her garden in her nineties.

She married Frederick Kehrer and had two children, Rick and Lisa. She lived in Bexley, Ohio, in her beloved home of 66 years.

Marcia was at the heart of every family gathering, vacation, and celebration. She was a daily presence in the lives of her grandchildren. Her home was their second home.  Her home was a place of welcome, wonderful parties, weekday lunches – a gathering spot for generations.   

Marcia had an unshakable faith, youthful spirit, fantastic sense of style, hilarious sense of humor, and an open, loving heart.

She is survived by her daughter, Lisa Kehrer Reis and son-in-law Christopher Reis., her six beloved grandchildren, Emily Reis Kalush (Bill), Patrick Reis (Emily), Christian Reis (Holly Oak), Sarah Reis Arter (Joel), Benjamin Reis, Annalise Reis, and ten great-grandchildren. So much of what we are is because of who she was.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Saint Catharine of Siena Church on Wednesday, June 7 at 10:30 a.m., followed by a light lunch. A celebration of her life will be held on July 4, honoring her famous tradition.
