Lynn Gelpi Kartavich

Lynn Gelpi Kartavich, age 83, passed away January 6, 2018.  She was born May 13, 1934 in Columbus.  Graduate of St. Joseph Academy and obtained her Nursing Degree from St. Elizabeth in Covington, KY.  As a young lady she was an accomplished musician.  She was an organist for St. Mary Magdalene and St. Aloysius Churches.  When she played at Mass she claimed that she prayed twice.  She was Deputy Director for Ronald Reagan’s campaigns in 1976, 1980 and 1984.  Lynn served on Reagan’s Administration on Protocol and Advance Team. She was Personal Liaison for Nancy Reagan.  Lynn was Presidential Appointee for the National Historic Preservation where she served for 11 years.  Board member of the Ohio National Road Association.  She was very involved in many  GOP campaigns.  Lynn was a Girl Scout Leader for many years and founder of the Girl Scout Football Ushers at OSU and was lovingly known as “Momma K .“ She was CEO of Affairs to Remember, a party planning and bridal consulting business.  She owned House of Lynn Dress Making and Design.  Devoted member and Past President of the Notre Dame Alumnae Association.  Preceded in death by beloved husband, Robert; daughter, Joli Washington;  parents, Andre and Margaret Ridgeway Gelpi ; brothers, Andre and Michael Gelpi; sister-in-law, Lisa Gelpi of Greenwich, SC.  Survived by daughter, Renee Slattery; son, Robert II (Ila); grandchildren, Kari Kartavich, Michael and Leah Kartavich and Nicole and Lisa Slattery; Great grandchild; Kerran Kartavich son-in-law, George Washington of Texas City, TX; brothers, Peter and Paul (Marian) Gelpi of Dublin; niece, Debbie Gelpi; special friends, Penny Alexander of Michigan and Cece Matyac.   Friends may call Thursday from 4-8 p.m. at EGAN-RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 403 East Broad Street.  Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday at 10AM at Holy Cross Church, 204 South 5th Street.  Burial to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
