Louann (Winters) Hess

November 19, 1927 ~ November 21, 2017 (age 90) 90 Years Old

Louann Winters Hess was born in Buffalo, New York on November 19th, 1927 to parents Stanley and Catherine Leppelman Winters.   She had just returned to Columbus as a resident in First Community Village where she was reunited with so many long time friends. Louann graduated from Nottingham High School in Syracuse, NY and attended Miami University where she pledged Chi Omega Sorority.  When she met Charles Dugan Hess who was the love of her life, she devoted herself to being wife and mother raising four children.  Chuck and Louann had residences in Columbus, Walloon Lake, Michigan and Vero Beach, Florida where they were involved with local charitable organizations. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. In Columbus she was a lifetime member of Mt. Carmel Health Systems Auxilary, in Michigan, a member of the Walloon Lake Trust Conservancy and in Vero Beach, a member of the Center for the Arts.  Throughout the years she belonged to Scioto Country Club, Riomar Country Club, Walloon Lake Country Club, and Vero Beach Yacht Club.  She passed away peacefully in her sleep November 21 .   Her family had just helped her celebrate her 90th birthday with a family party.  She is survived by her children Catherine Hess Williams, Charles (Chip) Dugan Hess, Jr.,   Robert Allen Hess (Valarie Byers), and Andrew John Hess; grand children Douglas Williams, Jr., (Caroline Venner), Paul Allen Williams (Susan Biggs), Catherine Hess, Charlie Hess, Britany Hess Bohling (Bill), and Eric Hess; great grand children Samuel and Naomi Williams; brother, John A. (Faye Drewry) Gibbs.  She was the matriarch of our family and will be greatly missed. A Memorial Mass will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday March 28, 2018, at Our Lady of Victory Church 1559 Roxbury Rd.
