Jesse Herbert Klingler, age 79, passed away Saturday, July 15, 2017. He was born March 9, 1938, in Somerset, Ohio, and grew up in the south end of Columbus, where he made many life-long friends. He was a 1956 graduate of South High School. Soon after graduation, he began his career at the United States Geological Survey, where he worked 37 years until his retirement in 1993. Jesse loved his years spent, and more importantly, the friendships made during his years at the Survey. In 1960, he married Mary Bell Seeger. They began their married life on the east side of Columbus, where they raised their three sons. He is preceded in death by his father and mother, Jesse H. and Mary Ellen (Reese) Klingler; his sister, Cheryl Ann, and brother John Thomas. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Mary; sons Mark (Michelle); Michael and Jeffrey (Kathleen); and sister Barbara (Kenneth) Wohlfarth. Jesse cherished time spent with his nine grandsons: Matthew (Jessika), Jonathan (Samantha), Kyle, Luke, Logan, Gabriel, Ian, Jacob and Jack; and his two great grandchildren, Cole and Taylor. The family would like to express gratitude to Dr. James Soldano and the many caregivers at Mount Carmel East ICU and Hospice for their kindness and loving care during Jesse’s final days. Friends and family may call Tuesday, July 18, from 4 to 7 p.m., at Egan-Ryan Funeral Home, 403 E. Broad St. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday July 19, 10:30 a.m., at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 4383 E. Broad St, with Father Bill Arnold, a dear family friend, officiating. Interment will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Jesse’s memory to Saint Francis Outreach Center, a food pantry and a clothing center, located at 404 W. South Street in McArthur, Ohio, 45651.
