Welcome to the memorial page for

Jean M. Vamos

April 13, 1937 ~ February 21, 2017 (age 79) 79 Years Old

Jean M. Vamos, 79, of Columbus, Ohio passed away peacefully in her home Tuesday, February 21st surrounded by her loving family. She was born April 13, 1937 in Toledo, Ohio to Stephen and Julia (Farkas) Gall.

Jean was a graduate of Whitney Vocational High School and later worked as a secretary at an insurance company in Toledo, Ohio. She was married to Frank Vamos on May 5th, 1956 at St Stephen’s Church.  After the family moved to Bowling Green in 1970, Jean devoted almost of all her time to raising her six children and basically being a “Supermom”. She participated in numerous school and sports activities which usually helped her get closer to and spend more time with her children. She later worked as a secretary at St. Thomas Moore Parish in Bowling Green and somehow found time to get involved in several church and community activities as well. She moved with her family to Columbus in 1986 and worked in Appraisal Administration at Mollica and Associates for several years.

Jean was active throughout her life, playing golf, volleyball, bowling and swimming, but she also enjoyed other activities such as bridge, bingo, solving jigsaw puzzles and watching her favorite sports teams with her hubby. By far, though, her biggest passion was for her family and her devotion will never be forgotten. Jean had a huge heart and touched so many lives. She was loved by many and will be sorely missed.

Jean was predeceased by her parents, Stephen and Julia Gall and her siblings Stephen Gall Jr. and Judy Pompos. She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Frank, as well as her children Diane (Tom) Scott, Mark (Doreen) Vamos, Patty (Bobby Joe) Hardin, Joe (Tracey) Vamos, Marty (Carrie) Vamos, Frank (Michelle) Vamos and many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Jean’s entire family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Homecare of Mt. Carmel and Ohio Health Hospice for their loving care and support during the past several months.
