Dick Haney

October 15, 1936 ~ August 12, 2016 (age 79) 79 Years Old

Frank Richard “Dick” Haney, age 79, beloved by all who knew him, passed away peacefully due to complications from Parkinson Disease on August 12, 2016. Preceded in death by parents, Anna and Paul and brother Bill Haney. Dick is survived by loving wife of 50 years, Maureen; son, Patrick (Patty); daughter, Marie (John) Matacia; and four grandchildren: Shane, Mikaela and Zachary Haney and Alex Matacia; sister, Paula (John) Zaino; brothers, Mike (Janie), Tim (Jone); sister-in-law Sofie Haney, and numerous nieces and nephews. Brothers-in-law Pat (Carolyn) O’Shea , Dan(Pam) O’Shea and extended family in Ireland.

 

Dick retired from Nini’s Barber Shop. Dick was a member of St. Timothy Church for 37 years. He attended St. Charles Seminary. He was a member of the Presidential Honor Guard (Old Guard) while in the Army. He was Secretary of Centennial Kiwanis, member of the Shamrock Club for over 50 years, member of K of C, Honorary member of AOH, member of C.P.P.S. Amicus, and past State President of the American Barber and Beauticians Association. Dick was highly active in the Parkinson community. He walked across Ohio in 1992 to provide greater awareness of Parkinson Disease, which he had for 40 years. He was Treasurer of C.O.P.S and member of Eldopa Support group. He also was a volunteer at Riverside Hospital for over 20 years.

A Memorial Mass at St. Timothy Church (1088 Thomas Lane) Friday, August 19, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. where the family will receive guests one hour before mass.  A private burial will take place at a later date.
