Dennis J. Doyle

June 9, 1931 ~ October 24, 2016 (age 85) 85 Years Old

Dennis J. “Denny” Doyle, age 85 of Columbus , following a valiant battle with cancer passed away peacefully, Monday, October 24, 2016 surrounded by family. Born in Brooklyn, NY to Dennis J. and Mary Theresa Doyle. Following their deaths at an early age, Denny moved to Columbus, OH. He was adopted and raised by his parents George and Amelia Doyle. Denny attended St. Charles Preparatory School and Holy Family High School. He was selected to the All-Independent City Basketball Team in 1948-49. He attended The Ohio State University. He was a Korean War veteran, a member of the 37th Unit Ohio National Guard. Throughout his life he was an avid tennis player. He was a lifelong fan of both Notre Dame and The Ohio State University athletic teams. He was a founding member of St. Timothy Catholic Church. Denny is preceded in death by his parents, Brother -in-Law Richard (Skip) Doyle and Nephew George Richard Doyle. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years- Frances (Kerin); Daughters- Tammy (Tom) Seringer, Sally Harp (Robert Martin) and Molly (Ken) Kellogg; Grandchildren- Katie Seringer, Natalie and Julia Harp, Kyle and Brett Kellogg. Sister- Mary Doyle, and Great-Nephew Christopher Malcolm and Sean Doyle. The family will receive friends from 4-7pm on Wednesday, October 26 at Egan- Ryan Funeral Home Northwest Chapel 4661 Kenny Rd. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, October 27 at 10:30am at St. Timothy Catholic Church 1088 Thomas Lane. Burial St. Joseph Cemetery. Denny’s family would like to thank the staff on 7 yellow and the Palliative Care team at Riverside Methodist Hospital for their tender care and attention as well as the staff at Columbus Oncology and Hematology, with a special thank you to Dr. Thomas Sweeney who  truly had such a positive impact on Denny and his family’s life. In Lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Timothy Church and/or School.
