Any major ceremony involves planning-- from births, to weddings, and even funerals. For many years, most people did not begin to actually plan funeral services until a death had occurred or was anticipated. In recent years however, society has begun to plan ahead for everything-- school tuition, first homes, retirement, and death. As a result many people have begun planning ahead for their funeral. Funeral Planning
Planning a funeral at the time of a death or when an illness is terminal is usually handled by the immediate family (i.e. the widow, children, parents, siblings, etc.) along with a funeral director. When the family perceives the need to plan a funeral, they call a funeral service and receive the advice they need.
